Cello Piano Duo - Duo History

 

 

Dilbag Tokay & Emine Serdaroglu started to work as a duo in 1998. Since then, they have given many concerts in leading concert halls in Istanbul and other cities of Turkey for a variety of music organizations such as Ayvalik International Music Academy in Ayvalik, Cukurova Friends of Music Organization in Adana, Defne Culture and Arts Society in Antakya and Izmir Culture and Arts Center in Izmir. They have participated in prestigious festivals such as 8th International Eskisehir Arts and Music Festival. Abroad, in Europe, they have given concerts in Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Cyprus and Bulgaria. Turkish television channels, TRT and NTV have recorded concerts of the duo.

In 2003, after competing in the preliminaries, the duo has participated in 2nd International Duo Competition arranged in Sweden. In August 2004, they were invited to the Piano and Chamber Music Academy (Germany), where they had the opportunity to work with P. Trein, C. Ponten and I. Ullner. In the opening concert of the Academy they executed wiht the orchestra the premier of P. Trein's composition "Old English Landscapes: Surrey". In July 2005, with the sponsorship of Vehbi Koc Foundation, they have participated in Val Tidone I.M.C. Project and had opportunity to work with F. Berthold and C. Levi Minzi. In August 2007, the duo went to Trier, Germany to participate at theAcademy and give concerts with financial support of the Turksih Foreign Affairs Ministery. As a duo, they perform Classical repertoire as well as works of modern composers and of young generation Turkish composers. In Istanbul, they have premiered H. Ucarsu's "Elif Dedim , Be Dedim" and also did the Turkish premier of contemporary compositions such as W. Lutoslawski's "Grave".
